Downton Kitten Pounces at Haydock

Posted on: 29th Apr 2017 by: David R. Lanigan: Racing

Downton Kitten wins at the first time of asking in a hot Fillies' Maiden at Haydock over one mile. She jumped out of the stalls and travelled keenly before being settled in behind. As the penny began to drop she began to challenge the longtime leaders in the closing stages of the race and went on to win by half-a-length under a perfectly-timed ride by Tom Queally.

Following the race, Tom Queally said, "Downton Kitten travelled around nicely despite being a bit funny with her head. Her work has been good and it's a good sign for the yard."

Downton Kitten is by Champion US-based sire, Kitten's Joy. Her dam, Manda Bay won over seven furlongs at three in the US and is a half sister to G2-placed Bahama Bound. Her second dam is G2wG1p Summer Wind Dancer.
Congratulations to her owners Mr and Mrs Kenneth Ramsey. Well done to all of the team at Rathmoy Stables.
