Dukes Delights at Kempton

Posted on: 6th Aug 2013 by: David R. Lanigan

Dukes Delight lost her maiden tag on Tuesday night at Kempton in the 12 furlong BetVictor Handicap under a great ride by Ted Durcan. Sent off the 11/4 favourite, Dukes Delight tracked the leaders throughout before being asked for more inside the final two furlongs. She stayed on well to secure victory over fast-closing Opera Buff and Silvestre De Sousa.

David Lanigan said after the race, "Dukes Delight is a big, backwards filly who is strengthening all of the time. She will be suited to a bit of juice in the ground come the autumn and I wouldn't want to go any further and 1m4f at this stage."

Dukes Delight is a homebred, owned by Mr. Bjorn Nielsen. From the first crop of Duke of Marmalade, she is the second foal out of Fashion Model. She is from the family of G1 winners, Sky Beauty, Maplejinsky, Tale of Ekati, Pleasant Home, Pine Island and Dayjur
